Coal Black Horses Lyrics

Just as sure as that sun's gonna shine
When he comes at his table, I will dine
Just as sure as that dog's gonna whine
In my heart, no longer will I pineJust as sure as by evil you are torn
The sky will open up an' an angel blow his horn
And down come Jesus, lookin' so fine
Just as sure as that girl, she is mineAnd I say, it's nothing
Hey, hey, hey, it's always forever
Hey, hey, hey, it's never or now
Hey, hey, hey, it's always forever
Hey, hey, hey, it's never or nowI dug a hole an' hollowed it out
Yes, an' I fell in
Oh Lord, I'm caught in the cord
The cord of my own sinShoot 'em up, cowboy, I got away
I've been draggin' this chain the whole way
Laid it down, boy, by the trail
Leave it there an' now look at me
An' I say, I sayHey, hey, hey, it's always forever

Hey, hey, hey, it's never or now
Hey, hey, hey, it's always forever
Hey, hey, hey, it's never or nowOh yeah, boys, I know an' I am certain
In your heart of heart ye all are hurtin'
No, no, no, not that name not to me
It's too hard to get down on my kneesJust as sure as by evil you are torn
The sky will open up an an angel blow his horn
An' down come Jesus, lookin' so fine
Just as sure as that girl, she is mine
An' I say, yes, an' I sayHey, hey, hey, it's always forever
Hey, hey, hey, it's never or now
Hey, hey, hey, it's always forever
Hey, hey, hey, it's never or nowHey, hey, hey, it's always forever
Hey, hey, hey, it's never or now
Hey, hey, hey, it's always forever
Hey, hey, hey, it's never or now

16 Horsepower was an alternative country musical group based in Denver, Colorado. Their music was usually serious in tone with distinct Christian religious lyrics dealing with conflict and redemption. The core members of the group from its founding in 1992 were David Eugene Edwards, Jean-Yves Tola, and Pascal Humbert (the latter two formerly of the band Passion Fodder). After releasing four studio albums and touring extensively, the band broke up in 2005, citing "mostly political and spiritual" differences.
