Conviction of the Heart Lyrics

On which the earth raise the sky
On which every thing in lifeWhere are the dreams that we once had?
This is the time to bring them back
What were the promises
Caught on the tips of our tongues?Do we forget or forgive?
There's a whole other life
Waiting to live when
One day we're brave enough
To talk with conviction of the heartAnd down your streets I've walked alone
As if my feet were not my own
Such is the path I chose
Doors I have opened and closedI'm tired of living this life
Fooling myself, believing we're right when
I've never given love
With any conviction of the heartOne with the earth, with the sky
One with everything in life
I believe we'll survive
If we only tryHow long must we all wait to change?

This world bound in chains that we live in
To know what it is to forgive
And be forg-i-i-ivenToo many years of taking now
Isn't it time to stop somehow?
Air that's too angry to breathe
Water our children can't drinkYou've heard it hundreds of times
Say you're aware, believe and you care
But do you care enough?
Where's your conviction of the heart?Ohh
One with the earth, with the sky
One with everything in life
I believe it will start
With conviction of the heartWith the earth, with the sky
One with everything in life
I believe it will start
With conviction of the heartOne earth, one sky
Only one worldOnly one chance, for one life
When will we live?
(With conviction of the heart)One child, one dream, the only one life
(One with the earth, with the sky)
You got one chance for one life
(I believe it will start)
When will we live?
(With conviction of the heart)
Only one earth, only one sky
(One with the earth, with the sky)
Only one world
(One with everything in life)
We've only got one chance to live in one life
I believe
(I believe)
It's only gonna start when we begin with some conviction of the heart
(It will start with conviction of the heart)

Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Kenny Loggins was born in Everett, WA, and moved to Los Angeles in his teens. He got a job as a staff writer and wrote four songs used on a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album in 1970, among them the hit "House at Pooh Corner." This brought him to the attention of former Poco member Jim Messina, now a staff producer at CBS, who intended to produce Loggins' debut album. The two ended up in a duo, however, and Loggins & Messina made a series of successful albums during the '70s.

Loggins & Messina broke up in 1976, and Loggins went on to solo stardom with such million-selling albums as Celebrate Me Home, Nightwatch (which included the hit "Whenever I Call You Friend"), and Keep the Fire, all in the cheerful, sensitive style he had displayed in Loggins & Messina. Loggins also became known as the king of the movie soundtrack song, scoring Top Ten hits with "I'm Alright" (from Caddyshack), "Footloose" (from Footloose), "Danger Zone" (from Top Gun), and "Nobody's Fool" (from Caddyshack II). His own albums sold less well (and came less frequently) throughout the '80s, with later efforts like 1991's Leap of Faith, 1997's The Unimaginable Life and 1998's December finding favor primarily in adult contemporary circles; in 1994, he also issued a children's album, Return to Pooh Corner, and released its sequel More Songs from Pooh Corner in early 2000.
