Couldn't Stand the Rain Lyrics

Couldn’t Stand The Rain
(Ian Fitchuck/Justin Loucks)
The storms passed over
And I missed the thunder
That bridge I hide under
Can’t save anyone anyhow
(CHORUS)
I couldn’t stand the rain
I couldn’t take the pain
No I’ll never be the same
There’s no one here to blame
The sky is turning brighter
So I’ll stand out of my shelter
My heart’s getting lighter
And I live in the here and the now

(CHORUS)
I couldn’t stand the rain
I couldn’t take the pain
No I will never be the same
There’s no one here to blame
BRIDGE
There’s always the silver lining
The sunny is always shining
So chin up now
Stop your whining
Keep on fighting
CHORUS 1x/Music Fade

Mindy rose to fame in 2003 when she was the first artist signed to contribute to the Dolly Parton tribute album Just Because I'm a Woman: Songs of Dolly Parton, on which she sang a cover of Parton's classic "Jolene". Later Dolly Parton followed by adding backing vocals to a new mix of the song, which was then featured on Smith's debut album that was released in January 2004, One Moment More.

In 2006 she released her second album Long Island Shores. Smith included Buddy Miller as a duet vocalist for What If The World Stops Turning?

In October 2007, Smith released a Christmas album, My Holiday. In addition to several standards, Smith wrote six original Christmas-themed songs. One standout, I Know The Reason, includes duet vocals by Thad Cockrell.
