Couple Days Off Lyrics

Yeah alrightI like my job and I don't mind the work
But eleven out of twelve is bound to hurt
The pay's pretty good and the benefits are fine
But I got a little girl and I wanna make her mineDon't mind telling you I get a little mad
To get a bit ahead takes all the time I have
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not getting soft
All I want is a couple days offYeah can't wait for the weekend
Ah baby just can't wait noI don't need another high song to sing
I don't need a shiny new diamond ring
I don't need to meet nobody else
I just need a little time for myself'Cause I'm only human, I'm no machine
I need a little loving only you know what I mean
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not getting soft
All I want is a couple days offYeah, just a couple days
Let me catch my breathThank God for the weekendAh back to the old grindI don't need another long coffee break
I've had as much coffee as a man can take
I need to change my disposition change my point of view
I need time to figure out what I wanna doBelieve me when I tell you it gets a little rough

We work a little harder but it never is enough
I'm not afraid to say I'm a total loss
All I want is a couple days offJust a couple days
Oh yes sirTime to wait for the weekend

Huey Lewis & the News is a Academy Award-nominated American rock band based in San Francisco, California. Their greatest success was in the 1980s, when they were one of the most popular music acts of the decade and released several gold and platinum albums. The band is known for writing simple, light-hearted songs from a working-class perspective and typically appealed to yuppies and baby boomers.

Combining a rock (and sometimes, a blues rock) backing with harmony vocals and Lewis's voice, Huey Lewis & the News had numerous hit songs during the 1980s and early 1990s, including "The Power of Love" and "Back in Time" (both of which were featured in the film "Back to the Future"), "I Want a New Drug", "Doin' It All (For My Baby)", "Do You Believe in Love?" "Hip to Be Square", "Stuck With You", and "Jacob's Ladder". Huey Lewis shared three Grammy awards, an American Music Award, and a People's Choice Award along with several artists for his role singing the 1985 charity song "We Are the World".

The track 'Hip to Be Square" features prominently in the 2000 movie "American Psycho", starring Christian Bale as serial killer Patrick Bateman. In both the film and the book it was based on, Bateman is a hardcore fan of the band.
