Cover Lyrics

The room is closing in
And you can't cross the floor
The music drives you
Sends you climbing the wallThe tears of recollection
Collect across your face
There are some lines you put there
And some you eraseJust don't wanna come over
Can't seem to love one another
You wanna run and take cover
Your silence hides you from the insideJust don't wanna come over
Can't seem to love one another
You wanna run and take cover
Your silence hides you from the insideYou'd better get awake now
It's time to stand up tall
I can't touch you
So far behind the wallAnd see the sun is rising
In an almost perfect sky
See how far we travel

And how hard we tryJust don't wanna come over
Can't seem to love one another
You wanna run and take cover
Your silence hides you from the insideJust don't wanna come over
Can't seem to love one another
You wanna run and take cover
Your silence hides you from the insideInside, inside, inside, inside
Inside, inside, inside, inside
Inside, inside, inside, insideJust don't wanna come over
Can't seem to love one another
You wanna run and take cover
Your silence hides you from the insideJust don't wanna come over
Can't seem to love one another
You wanna run and take cover
Your silence hides you from the inside

The Lilac Time is a band from Birmingham, UK (though based in Malvern, England), formed by Stephen Duffy and his brother nick duffy in 1987. The name is taken from a line in the Nick Drake song River Man: "Gonna see the River Man/Gonna tell him all I can/About the plan/For Lilac Time". The initial line-up for the debut album, entitled The Lilac Time, released in November 1987 was the two Duffys and keyboardist Michael Weston.
