Crying in the Chapel (feat. Menahan Street Band) Lyrics

Oh babyI'm crying in the chapel, baby
You stole my love, darling
You build me up and now you found somebodyAll alone
You told me it was mine
All mine
Uh, oh manI'm crying in the chapel, baby
You stole my love, darlingI ain't never, never think you'd ever leave me baby
I made up my mind
I was gonna love you baby
Til the end of time
I was gonna love you againAll alone
You told me baby it was mine
All mine
All mineNo no no no baby
PleaseI'm crying in the chapel, baby
You stole my love, darlingI'm crying my last tear baby
You stole my love
And you can't get it back

No more
It's my time to love
Again
It's my time to feel love
And get loved
Not with you... baby
Oh! Uh, baby
I wish you darling
You got me

Charles Bradley is no stranger to hard times. Born in Gainesville, Florida in 1948 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Charles spent the better part of his childhood living on the streets. One of the more optimistic moments of his childhood came in 1962, when his sister took him to see James Brown at The Apollo. Brown’s energy formed a lasting impression on Charles. He went home and immediately began practicing microphone tricks with a broom attached to a string, imitating the Godfather’s every move.
