Damnation Lyrics

Thousands of years
Before the dawn of history
Ancient races tears
Are flowing like a river to the seaWhere sacred river ran
White deer had roamed the land
Brilliant twilight hit our dreamsPrimitive child, your unforgotten tribe calls to you
Descendants we are one
The tangled maze is broken once againA myth without a meaning
You shade the light from the seed
The earth and virgin soil watch it bleed
The earth and virgin soilYeah, yeah, yeah, yeahRed, white, black in city masses
Corporate buildings spread like rashes
Stacked upon each other forty highStabbed each other in the back
You money-hungry maniacs
Dig up earth and spit it in your eyeAnd to intrude the sacred land
Where the mortals have been banned
Where your own forefathers lie in restTo disturb this mountain side
Where in battle we did ride

And our warriors where they lie, the earth digestHear our cry from down below
Let our restive spirits go
And you've trapped us in your world of sin
Let the plague begin, damnationYour cities disappear
To earth's interior, don't you know?
You've got to let your spirits go, let 'em go
You've got to let those spirits goLet 'em goYeah, yeah, yeah
You've got to let your spirit go

Fates Warning is a progressive metal band, formed in 1983 by John Arch, Jim Matheos, Victor Arduini, Joe DiBiase, and Steve Zimmerman in Connecticut, USA. The band directly contributed to the establishment of the progressive metal genre. Their early works are considered by many as very important works defining the genre itself. The middle-period works are considered as a progress in songwriting and musicianship as the band evolved. Recent works, since 1997, are in a heavy-progressive, more mature style.
