Daniel Prayed Lyrics

Well I read about a man one day, he wasted not his time away
He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
He cared not for the things of Baal, trusted one who never fails
Oh Daniel prayed every morning, noon and nightOh Daniel served the living God while upon this earth he trod
He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
He cared not for the king's decrees, but trusted God to set him free
Oh Daniel prayed every morning, noon and nightThey locked him in the lions den because he would not honor men
But he prayed to God every morning, noon and night
The jaws were locked, it made him shout, God soon brought him safely out
Oh Daniel prayed every morning, noon and nightOh Daniel served the living God while upon this earth he trod
He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
He cared not for the king's decrees, but trusted God to set him free
Oh Daniel prayed every morning, noon and nightNow brother let us watch and pray like Daniel did from day to day
He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
We too can gladly dare and do and pray to God He'll see us through
Oh Daniel prayed every morning, noon and nightOh Daniel served the living God while upon this earth he trod
He prayed to God every morning, noon and night
He cared not for the king's decrees, but trusted God to set him free

Oh Daniel prayed every morning, noon and night

When Folkways sought in 1960 to return banjo man Ashley to the public eye, he brought along his neighbor Watson, a blind, flat-picking guitarist then playing in an electric rockabilly band. To say that Doc and his easy-going grace stole the show would be an understatement. It wasn’t just his crystal-clear picking style that so astonished, but also the encyclopedic bag of licks that enabled Doc to seemingly play all night without repeating any, and the equally infinite number of traditional songs he carried in his head. From Ashley’s calling-card “The Coo Coo Bird” to Watson’s solo “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” these are among the most essential sides of the folk revival.
