Dead of Night Lyrics

Walk the streets at midnight
As the rain pours down and freezes on the ground
Lean against a street light
Try to work out where it all went wrong
I can see you in my mind's eye
I have no choice
I can hear you in the wild wind
I hear your voice
Your voiceCan't believe it's over
I can't believe that I walked out the door
A misplaced sense of honour
Led me to believe I knew the score
I can see you in reflections
You're there all the time
And if only you would let me
I'd change my mindChorus:
In the dead of night
(I would be there for you)

I'd be on your side
(My help would see you through)
Trust in me don't cry
(There now you'll be all right)
In the dead of nightIt happened all so quickly
One day we were there and now we are gone
I wish that you'd forgive me
Now I know that I'm the one who's wrong
Can't believe I'm so stupid
I would not see
That you never gave up trying
Or loving me(Chorus)And I couldn't blame you now
If you didn't want me back
No I couldn't blame you nowWalk the streets at midnight
As the rain pours down and mixes with my tears
And I know I've no right
To try to see you after all these years
But you're always with me
I have no choice
And I know I'll remember
And I'll hear your voice(Chorus)

Stiff Little Fingers are a punk band from Belfast, Northern Ireland, formed in 1977. They started out as a schoolboy band called Highway Star (named after the Deep Purple song), doing rock covers, until they discovered punk. In 1983 they split up after six years and four albums, although they reformed four years later, in 1987. Despite major personnel changes, they are still touring and recording as of 2011.
