Dear Madam Barnum Lyrics

I put on a fake smile
And start the evening show
The public is laughing
I guess by now they knowSo climb from your high horse
And pull this freak show down
Dear Madam Barnum
I resign as clownYou said I was the master of all I surveyed
But now I'm sweeping up
The last in line in your circus paradeChildren are clapping
As I fall to the floor
My heart torn and broken
And they just scream for moreIf I'm not the sole fool
Who pulls his trousers down
Then dear Madam Barnum
I resign as clownYou tread the high wire
Between truth and lies
Your safety net just walked out
Much to your surpriseStrike up the band love

And let the show begin
For this is the last time
I'm painting on a grinIf I'm not the sole fool
Who pulls his trousers down
Then dear Madam Barnum
I resign as clown
I resign as clown
I resign as clown

Enjoy the lyrics !!!

XTC were an influential rock band (starting out as a post-punk outfit but eventually developing into a sound that was a mix of new wave and alternative/college rock) which formed Swindon, England in 1972. For most of their career, the band consisted of Andy Partridge (vocals, guitar), Colin Moulding (vocals, bass) and Dave Gregory (guitar, keyboards). Gregory replaced founding keyboardist Barry Andrews in 1979 and left himself in 1999.
