Detroit Baby Lyrics

They say you wait (you wait), you wait so long (so long)
I though I had it (I had it), but I was wrong (so wrong),
and then I found it, and you found me
My Detroit Baby, you're all I needHe holds my hand (my hand), when we're alone (we're alone)
He sent me flowers, when he's gone (he's gone)And when he kisses, he'll never miss
My Detroit Baby, sweet sugar lipsHe calls my name (my name), when he's away (away)
He drives me home (me home), I wish he'd stay (he'd stay)My Detroit baby, my sweet boy {in Farsi} sweet sugar toyI see you walkin', you walkin' by
Walkin' down Woodward, tryin' catch your eye
You got a story? I got one too.
If you come over here, I'll talk to youThey say you wait (you wait), you wait so long (so long)
I though I had it (I had it), but I was wrong (so wrong),
and then I found it, and you found me
My Detroit Baby, you're all I needDetroit Baby, my Detroit Baby x3
Detroit Baby
Detroit Baby, my Detroit Babyx3
Detroit Baby x4

There is more than one artist that has used this name. 1.Habibi is the brainchild of Rahill Jamalifard and Lenny Lynch. Together, the two Detroit natives started the all girl, Brooklyn based project in the spring of 2011. Growing up with the harmonious sounds of Motown and the punk attitudes of Quatro and Iggy, their music invokes the same simplicity and fiery spirit. Jamalifard’s Persian ancestry and Lynch’s love of Middle Eastern culture are evident in the bands name (Habibi’s translation is my love in Arabic), their mystical lyrics, and their eastern tinged melodies.
