Diamonds (feat. Trevor McNevan) Lyrics

Cause I know, diamonds aren’t the only thing, that shine
And I know, love can make the darkness sing
I throw myself out my own house
Couldn't stop myself
So I just walked out
Almost did it again
Spoke too soon
Called a couple of friends
Blood boiled over
I'll be cool in a minute
Kicked a few things
That's enough are you finished
Heart in Hand
Calm as I walk in the door
Hold my breath
When I let out a roar
Even good men need a little grace

Put the world down and I pick up faith
Only scared boys try to save face
Pride in the mouth, it's a bitter taste
Spit it out
Don't want it, don't need it
Put it down and I just leave it
But I keep hearing it talk to me
Knows what I'm thinking like its on to me
Hold my breath when its hard to breathe
Cause I know
Diamonds aren't the only thing
That shines
And I know
Love can make the darkness sing
I need a strong tower
Will power no coward
Take back the flowers, sell the casket
My soul's established
Found a passage
Strike the matches
Light my black and white the sky
Wipe my fears, redeem the time
The bathroom mirror, I'm eye to eye
Look inside my soul and try to talk
To the guy if he's still alive
Pinch myself, try not to cry
Walking by the sea of a great divide
Left my print, I still survived
Is this the one?
My time is now
My Moment jump and leave the crowd
Walking with a king
I'm tall and proud
Standing reborn
Got the victor's crown
Cause I know
Diamonds aren't the only thing
That shines
And I know
Love can make the darkness sing
I no longer have to wait
For the spark that covers me
Its a stand for me to take
It's not a wand that we can wave
Its the faith like a child that counts when
I try to do what I think I feel is right
But it's never been something I control
Its so hard to commit when I don't know
Its the faith like a child that counts when
I try to do what I think I feel is right
But it's never been something I control
Its so hard to commit when I don't know
Cause I know
Diamonds aren't the only thing
That shines
And I know
Love can make the darkness sing

Chris Greenwood (best known as Manafest) is a rapper from Toronto Ontario Canada.

He is also a skater, which led to his career in hip hop; after an accident in 1998, he took time to focus on rap and was noticed by Trevor McNevan of Ontario-based band Thousand Foot Krutch. This led to his signing to an internationally distributed label, BEC Recordings, and debut release Epiphany, which was made primarily of West Coast hip hop with several rapcore outings in the vein of Limp Bizkit.

He released two independent albums, Mislead Youth (2001) and My Own Thing (2003), prior to Epiphany in 2005. He has toured in Canada, the United States and Ireland to date.

His second album, Glory, emphasized rap-rock elements with more Linkin Park-esque nu metal, and included more authentic hip hop stylings.

Central themes of Manafest's music include nonconformity, hip hop culture, and walking with God.

Manafest says in regards to Glory that: "I wanted to allow all of my influences show on Glory. Musically, I wanted to blend the appeal of Linkin Park, Sum 41, and The Beastie Boys. Vocally, I wanted to merge that with popular hip hop à la Eminem and Kanye West. But beyond musical influence, I wanted to reflect on the issues around me in the most positive way possible. And whether I am talking about the loss of loved ones and abuse, or breakdancing and skate culture, it's all for the glory of heaven. In the end, my prayer is that people would not simply bob their heads to this, but feel a very real sense of healing from the words. However, this record is not all serious. Some of my favorite tracks are the most lighthearted ones."
