Didn't It Rain Lyrics

Oh, well, didn't it
Rain, children?
Rain, oh, my Lord
Oh, didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
Oh, oh, my Lord
Didn't it rain?
Well, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights without stopping
Noah was glad when the rain stopped dropping
Knock on the windows, knock on the door
Come home, brother Noah, can't you take no more?
Oh, my brothers, you're full of sin
God has the key and you can't get in
Oh, would you listen to it rainin'?
Just listen to it rainin'

Oh, didn't it
Rain, children?
Rain, oh, my Lord
Didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
Oh, oh, my Lord
Didn't it rain?
God sent a raven to spread the news
Hoist his wings and away he flew
Into the north and to the south
And to the east and to the west
All day
(All day)
And all night
(All night)
All night
(All night)
And all day
(All day)
Oh, didn't it
Rain, children?
Rain, oh, my Lord
Oh, didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
Oh, oh, my Lord
Didn't it rain?
Yeah
Didn't it
Rain, children?
Rain, oh, my Lord
Oh, didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
Oh, oh, my Lord
Didn't it rain?
Yes, didn't it
Rain, children?
Rain, oh, my Lord
Oh, didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
(Rain?)
Didn't it
Oh, oh, my Lord
Didn't it rain?
Oh, would you listen
How it's rainin'?
Just listen
How it's rainin'
Some cryin'
Some prayin'
Some runnin'
Some hidin'
Oh, would you listen
How it's rainin'?
Just listen
How it's rainin'
Some moanin'
Some groanin'
Some cryin'
Some prayin'
Oh, would you listen
How it's rainin'?
Just listen
How it's rainin'
Moanin'
Groanin'
Cryin'
Prayin'
Oh, would you listen
How it's rainin'
Listen
How it's rainin'
Rainin'
Rainin'
Rainin'
Rainin'

The definitive afroamerican gospel group in the jubilee quartet style. Founded as the Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet in Norfolk, Virginia in 1934 by A. C. “Eddie” Griffin, Robert “Peg” Ford, Henry Owens, and Bill Johnson, they began as a traditional jubilee quartet, combining the clever arrangements associated with barbershop quartets with rhythms borrowed from the blues and jazz. The makeup of the group changed over the years, as some members were drafted during the war and new members were brought in to replace those who had retired or left to join other groups.
