Dimming of the Day Lyrics

This old house is falling down around my ears
I'm drowning in a river of my tears
When all my will is gone you hold me sway
I need you at the dimming of the dayYou pulled me like the moon pulls on the tide
You know just where I keep my better sideWhat days have come to keep us far apart
A broken promise or his broken heart
Now all the bonny birds wheeled away
I need you at the dimming of the dayCome the night you're only what I want
Come the night you could be my confidante
Aah aah aah ahI see you on a street in company
Why don't you come an' ease your mind with me
I'm living for the night we steal away
I need you at the dimming of the day
Yes, I need you at the dimming of the day

Bonnie Raitt, (born November 8, 1949) is an American blues and R&B singer, songwriter, and guitarist who was born in Burbank, California, the daughter of Broadway musical star John Raitt. Raitt began playing guitar at an early age, something not a lot of her high school girlfriends did. "I had played a little at school and at camp," she later recalled in a July 2002 interview. "My parents would drag me out to perform for my family, like all parents do, but it was a hobby—nothing more...I think people must wonder how a white girl like me became a blues guitarist.
