Dodging Assassins Lyrics

Your voice was frightened and kind of dreamy
You said you simply had to see me
And there you were with your martini
Your diamonds were large and your dress was teenyDodging assassins two by two
They want your ruby slippers and your little dog, tooYour words had me shaken
Your dress had me stirred
I guess I didn't answer
'Cause you asked if I had heardIn your face I watched the lines
The growing lines of anguish
In the air I watched the smoke
From your cigarette languishThere in your face I saw the light
Like you, a fugitive of the night
I took a shot and I said that I might
Help you to dodge your assassinsDodging assassins two by two
They want your ruby slippers and your little dog, tooLike Dorathy I fall
Like Dorathy I fall
Like Dorathy I fall
Little dog and allLike Dorathy I fall

Like Dorathy I fall
Like Dorathy I fall
Little dog and allLike Dorathy I fall
Like Dorathy I fall
Like Dorathy I fall
Little dog and allThere's vampires in the sun
My dear one, they want a piece of you
They want your ruby slippers, baby
And I know they want your little dog, tooDodging assassins two by two
They want your ruby slippers and your little dog, tooDodging assassins two by two
They want your ruby slippers and your little dog, tooI don't know why they want you dead
But now that I've helped you, I think they also want my head
I don't know why they want a piece of you
They want your ruby slippers and your little dog too

The Spin Doctors is a rock group from New York, USA, best known for its 1992 hits, "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong", which charted at #7 & #17 on the pop chart, respectively. The album that included those songs, Pocket Full of Kryptonite, sold poorly until MTV and radio began playing the songs. The album eventually went gold, and then received another boost in sales after the band's appearance on Saturday Night Live in October 1992, ultimately selling five million copies in the United States and peaking at #3 on the Billboard top 200 album chart.
