Don't Call Me White Lyrics

Don't call me white, don't call me white
Don't call me white, don't call me whiteThe connotations wearing my nerves thin
Could it be semantics generating the mess we're in?
I understand that language breeds stereotype
But what's the explanation for the malice, for the spite?Don't call me white, don't call me white
Don't call me white, don't call me whiteI wasn't brought here, I was born
Circumcised, categorized, allegiance sworn,
Does this mean I have to take such shit
For being fairskinned? No!
I ain't a part of no conspiracy,
I'm just you're average Joe.Don't call me white, don't call me white
Don't call me white, don't call me whiteRepresents everything I hate,
The soap shoved in the mouth to cleanse the mind
The vast majority of sheep
A buttoned collar, starched and bleached
Constricting veins, the blood flow to the brain slows
They're so fuckin' ordinary whiteDon't call me white, don't call me white
Don't call me white, don't call me whiteWe're better off this way

Say what you're gonna say
So go ahead and label me
An asshole cause I can
Accept responsibility, for what I've done
But not for who I amDon't call me white, don't call me white
Don't call me white, don't call me white
Don't call me white, don't call me white

Rancid is a punk rock band which formed in Berkeley, California, United States in 1991. The band consists of Tim "Lint" Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Lars Frederiksen (guitar), Matt Freeman (bass) and Brendan Stieneckert (drums). The band has released seven albums: "Rancid" (1993), "Let's Go" (1994), "...And Out Come the Wolves" (1995), "Life Won't Wait" (1998), "Rancid" (2000), "Indestructible" (2003) and "Let the Dominoes Fall" (2009). The band originally consisted of Armstrong, Freeman (both former members of Operation Ivy) and drummer Brett Reed, with Frederiksen joining in 1993. Reed left in 2006 and was replaced by Stieneckert.

To date, Rancid has released seven studio albums, one split album, one compilation, two extended plays, and a series of live online-only albums, and has been featured on a number of compilation albums. The band has independently sold over four million records worldwide,[4] making it one of the most successful independent punk groups of all time. The band rose to fame in 1994 with its second studio album, Let's Go, featuring the single "Salvation". In the following year, Rancid released its highly successful album ...And Out Come the Wolves, which produced its best-known songs "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho" and "Time Bomb", and was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA, selling over one million copies in the United States alone. Its next four albums, Life Won't Wait, Rancid, Indestructible and Let the Dominoes Fall, were also critically acclaimed, though not as successful as ...And Out Come the Wolves. Rancid is currently working on an eighth studio album, which is said to be recorded in September 2011, and expected to be released in 2012.
