Don't Follow Me Lyrics

Through another late night confession
Told to a captive audience
You listen with your ear to the door
Waiting for pearls of wisdom to fallLike open secrets overheard
Through the cracks in the wallCalculated candor you play the part
Of a trusted confidant
Moving closer for a better view
Looking for more than eyes can seeOn the tattered pages
Of an open diaryIf you want to know just what I see
Look at yourself don't ask me
And if you want to know where we're going
Keep your distance and don't follow meLike an old friend with nothing left to say
You'll find I'm not who you thought I'd be
As you contemplate the silence
Waiting for pearls of wisdom to fallFrom the still uncertain heart
That beats behind the wallIf you want to know just what I see
Look at yourself don't ask me
And if you want to know where we're going

Keep your distance and don't follow meIf you want to know just what I see
Look at yourself don't ask me
And if you want to know where we're going
Keep your distance and don't follow meIf you want to know just what I see
Look at yourself don't follow me

Fates Warning is a progressive metal band, formed in 1983 by John Arch, Jim Matheos, Victor Arduini, Joe DiBiase, and Steve Zimmerman in Connecticut, USA. The band directly contributed to the establishment of the progressive metal genre. Their early works are considered by many as very important works defining the genre itself. The middle-period works are considered as a progress in songwriting and musicianship as the band evolved. Recent works, since 1997, are in a heavy-progressive, more mature style.
