Downfall Lyrics

Thought I'd seen it all before
No one could show me any more
Sunny skies and and lights so bright
Winter winds deep in the nightThen came a woman
Heaven must have sent
And like a fool
I never guessed it meantMy downfall, Down, Downfall
I never thought I'd fall at all
Downfall, DownfallIf anyone should ask you why
I keep starin' at the sky
Tell them how it used to be
Tell them how it was with meThen came a woman
Heaven must have sent
And like a fool
I never guessed it meantMy downfall
Down, Downfall
I never thought I'd fall at all
Downfall, DownfallThen came a woman...My downfall...

Poco, founded in 1968 by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Richie Furay and Jim Messina (both inducted 1997 with Buffalo Springfield), was one of the earliest in the "country rock" genre that was later commercially popularized by bands such as the Eagles. The band was completed by Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, dobro, banjo and mandolin) Randy Meisner on bass and George Grantham on drums. Poco's 1969 debut, "Pickin' Up the Pieces" (the title being a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield), received some critical acclaim but generated very litttle enthusiasm commercially.
