Dreamboat Lyrics

Steamboat waiting by the waterside
Sunlight shining on the mornin' tide
Got my ticket in my hand
Got some celebrating plannedCan't remember when I felt so fine
I've been waiting such a long, long time
Just to hear those engines hum
Look out dreamboat, here I comeAnd I say, dream on dreamboat, let my love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side
All aboard, make it fast
Thank the Lord, I'm coming home at lastIf you love me like you did before
Be there waiting on that distant shore
When my steamboat comes inside
And then I know, we'll be alrightAnd I say, dream on dreamboat, let your love light ride
Stem on steamboat to the other side
Turn the crank, change the gear
Raise the flag and let's get out of hereFeels so good to know that soon I'll see
You've been saving all your love for me
Honey, if there's any doubt

Just be sure I don't find outAnd I say, dream on dreamboat, let my love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side
Cast the line, check the fuse
Save some time, this ain't no pleasure cruiseTell the Captain, not to take too long
Keep that big wheel turning fast and strong
Fires are burning down below
Come on steamboat, don't be slowAnd I'm sayin' that, dream on dreamboat, let my love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side
Wind the springs, set the course
Pull some strings before I turn to forceDream on dreamboat, let my love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side
Ring the bell, sound the horn
Move like Hell, I'm heading back where I was bornAnd I say, dream on dreamboat, let my love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side
All aboard and make it fast
Thank the Lord, I'm coming home at lastAnd I say, dream on dreamboat, let your love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side
Turn the crank, change the gear
Raise the flag and let's get out of hereDream on dreamboat, let my love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side
Cast the line, check the fuse
Save some time, this ain't no pleasure cruiseYou're my dreamboat, yes you areI say, dream on dreamboat, let my love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side
Ring the bell, sound the horn
Move like Hell, I'm heading back where I was born, yeahYou're my dreamboat, yes you areDream on dreamboat, let my love light ride
Steam on steamboat to the other side

Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in Pinner, Middlesex, England on 25 March 1947) is an immensely popular English singer, composer (mostly with lyricist Bernie Taupin) and pianist. In a career spanning five decades, Elton John has sold over 250 million records and has over fifty Top 40 hits, making him one of the most successful musicians of all time. His 1997 tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales, "Candle In The Wind 1997," remains the world's biggest selling and fastest selling single of all time.

In 1964, Dwight and his friends formed a band called Bluesology. By day, he ran errands for a music publishing company; he divided his nights between solo gigs at a London hotel bar and working with Bluesology. By the mid-1960s, Bluesology was backing touring American soul and R&B musicians like The Isley Brothers, Major Lance, Billy Stewart, Doris Troy and Patti LaBelle and The Bluebelles. In 1966, the band became musician Long John Baldry's supporting band and played 16 times at The Marquee Club.

John was one of the dominant commercial forces in the rock world during the 1970s, with a string of seven consecutive #1 records on the U.S. album charts, twenty-three Top 40 singles, sixty Top 10 hits, and six #1 hits. His success had a profound impact on popular music, and contributed to the continued popularity of the piano in rock and roll.

Key musical elements in John's success included his melodic gifts matched with the contributions of his lyricist partner Bernie Taupin, his rich tenor and gospel-chorded piano, aggressive string arrangements, his flamboyant fashion sense and on-stage showmanship. As told by himself, his somewhat "flashy" outfits were due to the fact that he sits behind the piano and would otherwise vanish on stage.

John was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and knighted in 1998. He has helped lead the fight against AIDS since the late 1980s. In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked John #49 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. He continues to be a major public figure.
