Drift Away Lyrics

Day after day I'm more confused
Yet I look for the light through the pouring rain
You know that's a game that I hate to lose
And I'm feelin' the strain, oh, ain't it a shame?Oh, give me the beat, boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n' roll and drift away
Give me the beat, boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n' roll and drift away
Won't you take me away?Beginnin' to think that I'm wastin' time
I don't understand the things I do
The world outside looks so unkind
And I'm countin' on you, you can carry me throughOh, give me the beat, boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n' roll and drift away
Give me the beat, boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n' roll and drift away
Won't you take me away? And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
When I'm feelin' blue
The guitar's comin' through to soothe meThanks for the joy that you've given me

I want you to know that I believe in your song
Rhythm and rhyme and harmony
You help me along, oh, you're makin' me strongOh, give me the beat, boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n' roll and drift away
Give me the beat, boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n' roll and drift awayGive me the beat, boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n' roll and drift away
Give me the beat, boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock 'n' roll and drift awayWon't you take me, won't you take me?
I wanna drift away, won't you take me away?
I wanna drift away, I wanna drift away
Take me home, let me drift away
Won't you take me away?

Uncle Kracker (born Matthew Shafer 9 November 1974 in Mount Clemens, Michigan) is an American rock and roll and country music musician.

He started out his career at a young age as a fledgling rapper. He met Kid Rock in 1987, and Rock asked Kracker to become his DJ. Kracker did not know how to work the turntables, but he soon learned how to, and he became a long-term friend and colleague of Rock.

Kracker worked with Kid Rock until he became a solo artist in 2000.

The My Hometown Songfacts reports that Kracker recorded Postcards From Home over seven weeks in early 2011. The album title was inspired by his hectic life on the road after his successful Happy Hour longplayer.
