Driftwood At Sea Lyrics

Driftwood at Sea
1. Ship wrecked on a stormy ocean clinging to a spar
A big wave tossed me up so high I almost caught a star
I thought I saw a rescue ship coming after me
I looked again and it was only driftwood at sea
Oh lordy driftwood at sea.
2. I looked up and saw my captain frozen to the mast
As I past by I heard him say this trip will be my last
I thought I saw a lovely island I cried lord let it be
I looked again and it was only driftwood at sea
Oh lordy driftwood at sea.
3. Satan came upon the water walking to and fro
He said pick up that sailor boy and take him down below
I thought I saw the Royal Navy bearing down on me
I looked again and it was only driftwood at sea

Oh lordy driftwood at sea
4. God came down and called at Satan the good Lord said to him
You shall not touch one sailor man so long as he can swim
I thought I saw a band of angels coming after me
I looked again and it was only driftwood at sea
Oh lordy driftwood at sea.
Oh lordy driftwood at sea (repeat 3 times)
