Drinking At the Dam Lyrics

I remember drinking at the dam
With the jarheads on the other side
Warm beer and tearing up the cans
And all of us yelling abuse
Cutting school to go drinking at the damSkinmags in the brambles
For the first part of my life
I thought women had orange skin
It was the first part of my life
Second is the restAnd now teenage warchests fill
And do the dirty dirty work
It was the first part of their livesDrinking at the dam
Holding back what I can
But the power is so muchDrinking at the dam
Holding back what I can
I'm just drinking at the dam
I'm just drinking at the dam
I'm just drinking at the dam

Bill Callahan, born in Silver Spring, Maryland. Callahan followed the lo-fi genre of underground rock, with homemade tape-albums recorded on four track tape recorders. Later he signed a record contract with the label drag city. Callahan started out as a highly experimental artist, utilizing sub-standard instruments and recording equipment. His reason for using the lo-fi approach was not so much an aesthetic choice, rather it came from his lack of knowledge of recording studios, and fear of giving up control to professional engineers.
