Drive on Home Lyrics

I wonder if I'll still be here
Working the same job in a year
Alone some nights I pour a beer
And think aboutAll the things I can't control
My boss, the bills and growing old
I pray to God that down the road
It'll all work out
But all I know right nowIs I'll be up in the morning with coffee a pouring
And take it on down the road
I'll be swinging a hammer and climbing a ladder
And hauling that heavy load
And girl I'll keep on trying, keep on driving on
Driving through, just as long
As I can drive on home to you
I wanna buy that house you always slow down for
Park a new car in the drive and tell you it's yours
The fact that you don't want me to makes me want to more
That's what I'm working forSo I'll be up in the morning with coffee a pouring

And take it on down the road
I'll be swinging a hammer and climbing a ladder
And hauling that heavy load
And girl I'll keep on trying, keep on driving on
Driving through, just as long
As I can drive on home to youJust to be all alone with you
It's all that I want to do
So, I do what I gotta do
Girl what I gotta do
Is be up in the morning with coffee a pouring
And take it on down the road
I'll be swinging a hammer and climbing a ladder
And hauling that heavy load
And girl I'll keep on trying, keep on driving on
Driving through, just as long
As I can drive on home to youBaby drive
Drive on home to you

Montgomery Gentry is a country music duo, founded in the 1990s, consisting of Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is the older brother of John Michael Montgomery. Some sources say that Troy Gentry is the son of Bobbie Gentry, which is untrue. Troy's parents are Lloyd and Pat Gentry. Eddie, Troy, and John were in a band called Early Tymz. Eddie and Troy continued to perform after John left to pursue a solo career. The duo went through several name changes before they decided to call themselves Montgomery Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is bald and seemingly always wears a hat. Eddie also has a habit of twirling his microphone on stage, which has become somewhat of a signature.

The band has released five CDs including "Some People Change" which was released in 2006
