Drivin' Nails in My Coffin Lyrics

My sweetheart has gone, I'm so lonely
She said that she and I were through
So I started out drinking for past time
Drivin' nails in my coffin over youI'm just drivin' nails in my coffin
Every time I drink a bottle of booze
I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin
Lord, I'm drivin' those nails over youNow ever since the day that we've parted
I've been so sad and so blue
I'm always thinking of you, love
And I just can't quit drinkin' that old boozeI'm just drivin' nails in my coffin
Every time I drink a bottle of booze
I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin
Lord, I'm drivin' those nails over youNow you've turned me down you don't want me
There's nothing now I can lose
I'm just drivin' those nails in my coffin
And worryin', my darlin', over youI'm just drivin' nails in my coffin
Every time I drink a bottle of booze
I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin

Lord, I'm drivin' those nails over you

Ernest Dale Tubb (February 9, 1914 – September 6, 1984), nicknamed the Texas Troubadour, was an American singer and songwriter and one of the pioneers of country music. His biggest career hit song, "Walking the Floor Over You" (1941), marked the rise of the honky tonk style of music. In 1948, he was the first singer to record a hit version of "Blue Christmas", a song more commonly associated with Elvis Presley and his mid-1950s version.
