Drivin' Wheel Lyrics

We were setting in the harbor
With our sights out on the land
And there was something someone or other
That we couldn't quite understandAbout the driving wheel
Want to know how it feels
To be taking time out, turn it all about
We're taking hold the drivin' wheelAnd there were miles of time drowned in the wine
We were talkin' 'bout better days
It was years ago when we pelt the goal
Was anchored to the changing ways, anchored to the changing waysThere ain't nothin' here, only the fear of
What is right and what is real
Satisfaction smile came on board for a while
We're taking hold, take hold of the drivin' wheelWe were set in the harbor, had our sights on the land
All the men at the wheel moving on with the plan
We were reaching together for the same end
Sunshiny weather comin' 'round the bend, comin' 'round the bendThere ain't nothin' here, only the fear of
What is right and what is real
Satisfaction smile came on board for a while

We're taking hold of the drivin' wheelTake hold, take hold, take hold of the drivin' wheel
I wanna know, wanna know, I wanna know just how it feels
Take hold, take hold, take hold, drivin' wheel
Take hold, take hold, take hold, drivin' wheel
Take hold, take hold, take hold, drivin' wheel

Poco, founded in 1968 by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Richie Furay and Jim Messina (both inducted 1997 with Buffalo Springfield), was one of the earliest in the "country rock" genre that was later commercially popularized by bands such as the Eagles. The band was completed by Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, dobro, banjo and mandolin) Randy Meisner on bass and George Grantham on drums. Poco's 1969 debut, "Pickin' Up the Pieces" (the title being a reference to the break-up of Buffalo Springfield), received some critical acclaim but generated very litttle enthusiasm commercially.
