There are two projects known as I and I. One is a roots reggae band from Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico.

In early 2005, mild mannered multi-instrumentalist and jack of all trades, Adam Sarmiento was "possessed" by an "entity" which refers to itself as "I and I". This "I and I" entity took over the recordings Adam had been working on for the previous year. Although it allowed Adam to be credited for what became the debut album "We Are", it insisted on using it's name for the artist name. I and I even went so far as to coerce Adam's friends: Alan Vest (of Starlight Mints), Eric Sarmiento and Brent Williams (of the Candles), Amber Brown, Wally Tarkington and Mike Hosty (of Hosty Duo) to add tracks to the album. Some critics described the album thusly: "a danceable concoction of indie rock, electronica and ambience" and "scrapes the very edge of the galaxy".
Before I and I took over Adam he had been a drummer, vocalist and songwriter with the bands New Tribe, The Pistol Arrows, and The Candles. He had also spent considerable time in the Pacific Northwest working on Sustainable Agriculture and Horticulture. Since the possession, I and I forces Mr. Sarmiento to waste countless hours exploring it's wishes to create new and unique music and visions. It also forces Adam to perform I and I's songs in all manner of unusual and often undesirable locations. Somehow the talented musicians James Spake (of Golden Ladder), Boyd Littell (of the Ills) and Brent Williams were persuaded to join in these live misadventures.
The latest result of the unholy alliance between I and I and Adam is the 4 song e.p. and web offering "Music Computer Film". Live performances pitting the I and I demon against Eric Sarmiento have also been recent occurrences as well as destroying (remixing) a song by the Prague band Khoiba.
