Empty Pockets Lyrics

All these politics, it's a deception falling on America's weak
They say we're keeping ourselves down
We sold out on half ass trailer park dreams
So now we're living with rednecks, racists black white hatred
I'm trying so hard to love my nation underfed, over bred
I just can't get ahead, it's not about the races or the revelationsPeople shooting up the blocks because of empty pockets
Fighting with the cops because of empty pockets
Selling what we got because of empty pockets
Blaming every other face for our empty pocketsAnd I think we need a shift in direction
Better wake your ass out of sleep out of sleep and stop judging others
Who struggle just like you and me
'Cause now we're living with hard times, sex crimes
Friends are hard to find, I'm trying not to lose my mind
In the low-class, high-class in the middle sinking fast
I know you wanna blame it on my educationI'm hanging on the block because of empty pockets
Fighting with the coops because of empty pockets
Selling what I got because of empty pockets
Blaming every other face to our empty pockets

Lost without a trace because of empty pockets
Living in a different place because of empty pocketsEmpty pockets
Empty pockets
Empty pockets

Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is a jazz pianist and composer from Chicago, Illinois, United States. Hancock is one of jazz music's most important and influential pianists and composers. He embraced elements of rock, funk, and soul while adopting freer stylistic elements from jazz. As part of Miles Davis' "second great quintet" Hancock helped redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section, and was later one of the first jazz musicians to embrace synthesizers and jazz funk.
