Everybody's Right, Everybody's Wrong Lyrics

I'm the baby scared at birth
I'm the kid with kicked out teeth
Cuddled then rejected
Stolen, given backI'm a jumper on the wrong way
With the label sticking out
I've been hung up to dry
But the dirt just won't come outEverybody's wrong everybody's right
Someone must be wrong when someone else is right
Everybody's wrong everybody's right
You tell me that I'm wrong
Then you tell me that I'm rightI'm the baby that kept on crying
And his dad says leave him alone
I'm the kid with the stick
Who wants to grow up quickI'm a jumper on the wrong way
With the label sticking out
I've been hung up to dry
But the dirt just won't come outEverybody's wrong everybody's right
Someone must be wrong when someone else is right

Everybody's wrong everybody's right
You tell me that I'm wrong
Then you tell me that I'm rightDon't tell me I'm mixed up
You stupid little boy
I'm wrong you're right
I couldn't give a damn
I know that you don't need me
So watch me walk away
But before I go
You better give me my week's pay
I'm someone you don't understand
I'm the fool that laugh's and cries
I'm loved I'm hated oh what's going onI'm a jumper on the wrong way
With the label sticking out
I've been hung up to dry
But the dirt still won't come outEverybody's wrong everybody's right
Someone must be wrong when someone else is right
Everybody's wrong everybody's right
I get up in the morning
And I go to bed at night

Sham 69 formed in Hersham, Surrey in 1976 (the 12 November issue of NME notes they were rehearsing at this time, although only Jimmy Pursey would remain from this early line-up 12 months later). Sham 69 lacked the art school background of many British punk bands of the time, and brought in football chant back-up vocals and a sort of inarticulate political populism. The band had a large skinhead following (left wing, right wing and non-political), which helped set the tone for the Oi! movement.
