Excuse Me While I Break My Own Heart Tonight Lyrics

Well, excuse me if I break my own heart
It was mine from the finish I guess, it's mine from the start
The situation just don't seem so goddamned smart
The situation is tearing me apartSo you'll have to excuse me if I break my own heartWell, excuse me if I break my own heart tonight
Some things are born too strong, have to learn how to fight
The situation keeps me drinking every goddamned day and night
The situation don't seem so rightSo excuse me if I break my own heart tonight
Well, excuse me if I break my own heart tonight
Well after all it was mineIf the rain falls down on a trailer park town
Let your eyes slip easy into mine
If the rain falls down on a trailer park town
Let your eyes slip easy into mineYou run the road but your diary entry reads blank
Is this some sort of joke to you?
Is this some sort of joke to you?Well excuse me if I break my own heart tonight
Well excuse me if I break my own heart tonight
After all it was mine, it was mine
After all it was mine

Whiskeytown was an alt-country band from Raleigh, North Carolina founded in 1994 and fronted by Ryan Adams along with violinist Caitlin Cary. The band produced a number of albums before ultimately parting ways in 2000. Other members of the group included guitarists Mike Daly and Phil Wandscher, bassist Steve Grothmann and drummer Skillet Gilmore. Adams and Cary have publicly talked of reuniting Whiskeytown on multiple occasions, as recently as 2005, but as of yet, nothing new has materialized. The two did perform together briefly, along with Skillet Gilmore, on June 8, 2005, in Raleigh.
