F for Effort Lyrics

I heard that Rome wasn't built in a day.
Then how come everyone is rushin' to get ahead?
And if I seem to be reserved, that's just my way.
You're questions seem like you're interrogating me.
Yeah, I try.
Then again, I don't try.
I get and F for effort.
I'll get a D next time.
I heard the lemon metaphore four million times.
And I don't stand for leamonade, don't ask me why.
And would a beverage stand be a job that'd be desired.
And where would I get the wood and should I try?
Should I try?
Then again, I don't try.
I get an F for effort.

I get a 65.
Yeah, I try.
Then again, I don't try.
I get an F for effort.
I might as well just.....
I heard that currency don't grow like leaves on trees.
Then how come my money comes and goes so seasonally?
And I wish farmers planted plants instead of thieves.
My friend pays a ton of green for greener groceries.
Yeah, she tries.
Then again, she don't try.
She gets an F for effort.
She'll plant a tree next time.
Yeah, she tries.
Then again, I don't try.
I get an F for effort.
I'll get a D next time.
Yeah, I try.
Then again, I don't try.
I get an F for effort.
I get a 65.
Yeah, I try.
Then again, I don't try.
I get an F for effort.
I might as well just
die.

Les Vinyl is a rock and roll band. Their sound is upbeat but they’re cool about it. They don’t try too hard and they don’t over complicate things. The “standard” two guitars, bass, and drums set up, is a platform for songwriting that is familiar while still being, at times, unconventional. "Quirky and Catchy" are common descriptions of this very original Staten Island treasure.
Front-man and lead guitarist Casey Jost, a writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, applies clever wordplay over distinctive guitar parts. Jenny Miller provides a tight rhythm guitar style along with tender and breathy backing vocals. The drum and bass section balances the treble-heavy leads. Pat Given on drums and bassist Mike Carlo have the ability to dynamically go from a soft pulse to loud thunder while always remaining faithful to the intentions of the songwriting. The song always comes first with these talented young musicians. Yet, that is not say there isn’t room for improvisation. The loose nature of their live performance offers the audience a break from the over-produced world of pop but the familiarity of likable hooks and tones.
In a short time, Les Vinyl has managed to win over fans in several scenes. They’ve played shows with punk bands, pop outfits, and even surf rockers. After a show smack-dab in the middle of 4 hardcore bands, several face-studded attendees mentioned how refreshing Les Vinyl sounded. On the other side of the spectrum, they were much appreciated after opening for the folk-pop singer Ingrid Michaelson, an artist whose songs have been featured on Grey’s Anatomy and in Old Navy commercials.
Les Vinyl have recently been spanning the NYC area playing their set over and over and over in the hopes that you'll hear it and love it (PS - they're confident you will). Les Vinyl are also excited to announce the release of their first full-length album, Bright Gray, available in real life and/or at http://lesvinyl.bandcamp.com/.
