Farewell Lyrics

Do you remember
How we used to play like kids in the sun?
Nowadays, there is no light to see
And we're feeling cold, so the time has comeTo say farewell my friends
My fate is calling loud
Now I know it can get tough
And I don't know where I'll be tomorrowDo you, do you wanna know it?
I don't care about it
Somebody said that we could never
Ever die, what a lieYou will see the light again
We'll all be free someday
I know 'cause united we standGoodbye my friends, I'm leavin' you today
My quest is hard but I must be on my way
Now, don't ask why, goodbye, my friendsDon't you try to stop me
All I know is I have to go
There'll be no sense in my life at all
If I stayYou will never see it
You will never find it

Oh yes I will
Someone will take my place if I dieAn old man said some years ago
They've tried it all before
Some men of honor left
And searched that landThey did not return
Now it's up to you to play a better game
Remember when you're out there
Don't you, don't look back at allGoodbye my friends, I'm leavin' you today
The quest is hard
Hope I'll find a way home one dayGoodbye my friends, I'm leavin' you today
The quest is hard
I know I'll find a way home one dayYou will see the light of day
We'll all be free again
All that's left to say is farewell

Founded in 1989 by Kai Hansen in Hamburg, Germany after leaving Helloween, Gamma Ray borrowed straight from the Helloween classics, and continued to pioneer Hansen's style of power metal. After four years with Helloween, Kai Hansen decided to leave the band at the height of their career. He then went on to do some studio work with Blind Guardian. Kai and his friend Ralf Scheepers from Tyran' Pace decided to start a project. They recruited bassist Uwe Wessel and drummer Mathias Burchard. The resulting sound was very close to Helloween's power metal style.
