For a Little While Lyrics

Hot sun dancin' on the river
We're sittin' on the bank and watch the world go by
Our feet in the water she pressed her lips to mine
We were so long on love but short on timeShe could be a honeymoon sweet and a little wild
But she was mine oh, for a little whileAnd I laugh every time I start to think about us
We sent that summer out in style
And she's gone but she let me with a smile
'Cause she was mine for a little whileWe'd take a ride and head on down to airport road
Put the seats back watch the planes leave town
She always said nobody's strong enough to tie her down
Oh but I wasn't lookin' for that anyhowI knew she'd leave but I didn't know when
It matters to me now oh but it didn't back thenAnd I laugh every time I start to think about us
We sent that summer out in style
And she's gone but she let me with a smile
'Cause she was mine for a little whileI keep seein' pictures now of me and her
And those summer nights
My mind fills with her, oh but it's alright
'Cause I laugh everytime I start to think about usWe sent that summer out in style

And she's gone but she let me with a smile
'Cause she was mine for a little while
Yeah she was mine for a little while

Phil Vassar (born May 28, 1964 in Lynchburg, Virginia) is an American country music artist, most notable for his songwriting and use of a piano as his most prominent backing instrument.

Prior to signing with Arista Records in 2000, Vassar's songwriting talent was no stranger to the airwaves, penning number-one hits for some of the most popular country artists of the late 1990s: Jo Dee Messina ("Bye, Bye" and "I'm Alright"), Alan Jackson ("Right on the Money") and Tim McGraw ("My Next Thirty Years" and "For A Little While"). He has also written songs for Collin Raye ("Little Red Rodeo") and Blackhawk ("Postmarked Birmingham").

Vassar also co-owns a piano bar outside Nashville, Tennessee, where he performed his own material prior to signing a record deal.
