Forever Friends Lyrics

I knew you when I was just a little baby
Cried at night my mother held me tight as could be
Watched me growing from a little boy
You’ve been the only one who understood my pain, my joy
You knew me then,
We are forever friends
Questing on the long and unseen trail I crossed
What seemed an endless sea with trouble on my sail
I’ve come so far and yet I don’t know how
All I know is that you were with me then as you are now
We’ve always been
We are forever friends
As the memories of the past grow old
I see the mystery of my life beginning to unfold
Painful times I thought would never end
But you always seemed to pull me through my darkest hour

Time and time again
We are forever friends
Take me on an endless journey
Far beyond this troubled world
Rest me on the furlough of your love
Waiting for that day of glory
On the hour that you return
This is really all that I believe
Forever friends
(Sax Solo – Dougg Webb)
Mmmm Oh Lord
We’ve always been forever friends
I knew you were then eh, we are forever friends
We’ve always been friends
Oh Lord
And I knew you then my Lord
Alright, alright mmm
And I always knew… we were
Oohhh Lord we are we are
And I always knew it
Forever friends
Forever, forever, forever, forever,
forever, forever, forever
Always been forever friends, mmm
Forever friends
I knew you then
We are forever friends

There are two musicians using the name Jon Gibson.

1) Jon Gibson (b. March 11, 1940; Los Angeles, California) is a flautist, saxophonist, and composer who uses other instruments from around the world in his performances and is known for his jazz and classical contributions. He was a founding member and longtime performer with the Philip Glass Ensemble for many years, and also performed in the premiers of In C by Terry Riley, and Drumming by Steve Reich. He has also performed and recorded with a number of other minimalist composers, and is an accomplished visual artist. See also: http://www.jongibson.net/

2) Jon Gibson is a Soul and Gospel/Christian Music pioneer. He spent Fifteen years Tied to record label contracts begining with Solar Records (Warner Brothers) in 1983. During his stint there, Gibson found himself working alongside pop icon Michael Jackson on the song "So Shy", a cut for label mate Bill Wolfer's first solo record. During the recording phase of Gibson's first release, Standing on the One, Wolfer couln't help but notice that for a white boy, Gibson sure had a lot of soul and sounded a lot like Stevie Wonder, so he introduced the two. Gibson and Wonder have been friends ever since, teaming up for the remake of "Have a Talk with God", from Wonder's legendary work, Songs in the Key of Life.

When the title cut to Gibson's Standing on the One aired on secular stations, an attentive listener realized 'The One' was Jesus and took the album to KYMS, a Christian station in Orange County, California. This ultimately led to Jon's signing with Frontline Records in 1986 and his introduction to the Christian music industry. He went on to record four albums with Frontline, which yielded twenty-two top ten hits and nine number ones. In 1992, his Forever Friends album was voted Album of the Year by CCM Magazine and Jesus Loves Ya was included in CCM's The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music. The title track off his CD held the #1 spot for 11 consecutive weeks. Gibson also helped mastermind Crystal Lewis' first top ten hit, "Lost Inside You" and introduced Christian music to "rap" when he invited Kirk Burrell (later known as M.C. Hammer) to perform on "The Wall" in 1988. "The Wall", screaming up the charts to land in the #5 slot on CCM radio paved the way for the re! sounding success of the Kirk Franklins and Gospel Gangstaz' of today. Read more on Last.fm.
