Forgiven Lyrics

Can you hear me?
Yeah, come on friends
Can you lift your hands
Let's goForgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh
Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, ohForgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, ohCan I have a moment of your time?
I'm gonna come from my heart
And know what I'm 'bout to tell
Is gonna hit you where you areSee I was raised in the church
But I found the way to do my dirt
See, I was a preacher's son
And you won't believe the things I've doneBut I said to myself, you gotta do better
You can't keep livin' this way
You gotta get it togetherWhen I humble myself and pray
I knew God would listen
Today I can hear Him say
"My son, you are"Forgiven
(Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
Forgiven

(Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
My past is behind me, I'm movin' ahead
God has forgiven me, that old man is deadForgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
Forgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
That was yesterday, this is today
I don't care what people have to sayPeople always judgin' everybody else's situation
When the tables are turned, suddenly they get the revelation
Nobody has the power to put you into heaven or hell
I don't regret the things I've done 'cause now I got a story to tellAnd there ain't no testimony if you don't go through the test
And you ain't got no message if you don't look through the messJust humble yourself and pray
And give a confession
And you will hear Him say
"My child, you are"Forgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
Forgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
My past is behind me, I'm movin' ahead
God has forgiven me, that old man is deadForgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
Forgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
That was yesterday, this is today
I don't care what people have to sayNo, I'm not innocent, no
God knows I did something's, yeah
Somebody need to understand
That you can put your seams in the Masters handsNow bow your head and repeat after me, right nowSing Father, forgive me, I'm a sinner, I need you
Come in to my heart and change my world around
Forgive me, O Lord, forgive me right now
I can't go another day livin' my life this way
You died for me, You rose and I confess, You are LordForgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
Forgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
My past is behind me, I'm movin' ahead
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
God has forgiven me, that old man is dead
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)Forgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
Forgiven
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
That was yesterday, this is today
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)
I don't care what people have to say
(Forgive, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh)Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh
Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh
Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh
Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh
Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, oh
Forgiven, forgiven, forgiven, forgiven

Born and raised in the Motor City , Haddon was another gospel child prodigy, both as minister and musician. He gave his first sermon at the church of his father, Bishop Clarence Haddon, at age 11, and was directing the choir by age 13.

Haddon began his recording career in the mid 90s with the Voices of Unity on the small Tyscot label. As the group leader for their three albums, Haddon expressed his forward looking musical view, merging elements of soul, hip-hop and funk in the group's Gospel music. VOU had some mild success on the Gospel charts, but by the late 90s Haddon was ready to move more clearly front and center as a solo artist. His first two solo albums, This is My Story and Chainbreaker continued his artistic development and made some moderate noise on the Gospel charts.

However, I’m not sure that even the devoted fan base he had been accumulating could have anticipated his late 2002 release, Lost and Found, his first on giant Gospel label Verity. A project as ambitious as Tonex’s noted debut, Pronounced Toe-Nay, Lost and Found is an exhaustive, inspired opus by a Gospel artist who, with its release, clearly declared himself a new Gospel star.

The disc begins sounding like a dance Gospel album, leading off with two funky numbers, “D.D.” and “Oh Yeah” (the latter featuring the ubiquitous Fred Hammond). From there it covers broad territory, including bluesy, southern soul (“Ain’t Got Nothing” and the radio hit, “Sinner’s Prayer”), Praise & Worship (“Worship Medley”), Prince-style electric soul (“It’s Me”), big ballads (“Stand Still”) and joyous calypso (“The Praises Go (Up, Up, Up)”). Haddon is literally bursting with musical ideas on the album and, amazingly, virtually all work. Equally impressive is the strong lyrical content of the disc – much of it autobiographical -- focusing principally on the power of redemption and the ability of faith to rescue lost or miscast souls.

It took me almost two months to review Lost and Found, mostly because it took so long to fully absorb such an ambitious project. Now I can clearly say that this stands, with Mary Mary’s “Thankful” and Tonex’s “O2,” as perhaps the definitive modern Gospel album of this decade, and is a must for both Soul and Gospel lovers.
