Generals Lyrics

Big city, all scratched out, revenge is not so sweet
Once proud, once so devout, they're tired and they are weak
Well, they came from east to west, counting up the cost
Red star soon to arrive, they know that all is lostAnd only the wounded remain
The generals have all left the game
With no will to fight, they'll fade with the light
There's nobody left, they can blameWhat once was decadence, now's nothing but raised land
The end so imminent, big city's not so grand
Well, they came they saw they conquered people hid in fear
They looted, raped and plundered angry Russian bearAnd only the wounded remain
The generals have all left the game
With no will to fight, they'll fade with the light
There's nobody left, they can blameReichstag, flies red flag, signaling the end
Party now bad bad, suicide the end
Well, there's some who think that golden years might lie ahead
No leaders anymore in the bunker deadAnd only the wounded remain
The generals have all left the game
Well, there's no will to fight, well, they'll fade with the light

Well, there's nobody left, they can blameAnd only the wounded remain
The generals have all left the game
With no will to fight, well, they'll fade with the light
The whole world is going insane

The Damned are a punk rock group originally from Croydon, England, a suburb of London, who were formed in 1976. Despite being one of the definitive early punk bands they were also one of the most ambitious; with their later albums moving away from the breakneck garage sound of their debut and taking in elements from goth and psychedelia to prog and metal. They are notable for being the first of the British punk bands to release a single, put out an album, and tour the United States.
