Gentleman Friend Lyrics

I got myself a hat with cherries
And a brand new yellow dress
It isn't very hard to guess
That the answer will be yesI'm ridin' high
And I approve of the trend
Look what I've found me
I got myself a gentleman friendThe sunny sky
Seems like it never will end
When he's around me
I'm referrin' to my gentleman friendHis kind of kissin' suits me to a T
What I was missin' in the used to be
I'm gettin' frequently
And so goodbye to cares that hound meIs it any wonder I
Wanna laugh and sing and cry
Gonna love him till I die
My gentleman friendHis kind of kissin' suits me to a T
What I was missin' in the used to be
I'm gettin' frequently

And so goodbye to cares that hound meIs it any wonder I
Wanna laugh and sing and cry
Gonna love him till I die
My gentleman friend

Blossom Dearie (1926-2009) was an American jazz singer and pianist. Born on 28th April 1926 in East Durham, New York, of mixed Scottish and Norwegian ancestry, Dearie began her career in vocal groups in New York. In the early 1950s she moved to Paris, forming her own vocal group, The Blue Stars, later to become the Swingle Singers. After signing to Verve, Dearie returned to the U.S. where, despite developing a successful career and achieving international fame, by 1974 the lack of interest from major labels led her to start her own label, Daffodil Records.
