Ghost of His Smile Lyrics

Advisory - the following lyrics contain explicit language:
He don't get out much
These days
But I wouldn't call him
LazyHe sees the dawn sneak
Into the room
And knows the dogs
Will be up soonAnd we thought that he was doing alright
As the sun chased down another nightAnd days careen
Like the waters
Of a river rushing

To the seaHere she comes again
Down the staircase
She never passes
Without saying helloAnd we thought that he was doing alright
And she says helloI can't forget the ghost
I can't forget the ghost
I can't forget the ghost
Of his smileAnd dogs will wag their tails
And birds will sing
Hell, it's a hard world
For little thingsAnd we thought that he was doing alrightI can't forget the ghost
I can't forget the ghost
I can't forget the ghost
Of his smile

Sparklehorse was an American alternative rock band formed in 1995 and led by Mark Linkous (September 9, 1962 - March 6, 2010), a Richmond, Virginia native and last of a long line of southern coalminers. Linkous recorded much of Sparklehorse's material in his home studio, and his Southern Gothic vision guided Sparklehorse. Drummer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Minor was a frequent collaborator.
