Gimme Some Water Lyrics

Mama never understood
what it`s like for a losing man
when her number one son goes bad
playing cards with the devil`s hand
But daddy got real sick so quick
for wars i`ll never understand
i was the one that good with the fun
took the money from the rich man`s land
Gimme some water
cause i shot a man
on the mexican border
cool, cool water
gimme some water
i need a little water
Jimmy grew up so fast
then he met me at the pass one day
said, you`re a wanted man
take your brother`s hand

i`ll be running with you anyway
So we rode late in the night
like the fires on the desert sand
til one day, the posse caught us
cause the sheriff always gets his man
Gimme some water
cause i killed a man
on the mexican border
cool, cool water
i need a little water
Oh jeez, i just can`t lose my hand
i`ve run just as fast as my legs can
but lord, i got no room to run
shouldn`t have done what
i did with that big gun
Hey hey, yeah
Gimme some water
cause i killed a man
on the mexican border
cool, cool water
Can`t you see that long white rope
hanging from the hangman`s tree
take a restless horse
tie my hands of course
tell my mother that i`m finally free
Let me die like a man
no one understands
let me pray that a poor man`s brave
smacked that horse in the ass
with my last dying gasp
my brother could hear me say
Gimme some water
cause i shot a man
on the mexican border
cool, cool water
gimme some water
Gimme some water
cause i shot a man
on the mexican border
cool, cool water
gimme some water
Gimme some water
cause i shot a man
on the mexican border
cool, cool water
gimme some water
Gimme some water
cause i killed a man
on the mexican border
cool, sweet water
gimme some water

Eddie Money (born Edward Joseph Mahoney, March 2, 1949 in New York City, United States) is an American rock singer-songwriter who found success in the 1970s and 1980s with a string of Top 40 hits and platinum albums. Rock impresario Bill Graham said of Money "Eddie Money has it all...Not only can he sing, write and play, but he is a natural performer." After becoming a police officer, like his father, during the late 1960s, Money began to be interested in music, and eventually ended his law enforcement career in favor of becoming a musician.
