Good Thing Good Time Lyrics

Momma told me I should always be careful
Daddy told me I should always be respectful
Now I know I haven't always been
Somebody you could put your trust in but
I'm here to prove that I'm a brand new man for you
I've given up my old ways
I've found myself a new place
A place to try to build the life I gave away
I don't remember why I gave it away
This is a brand new start
I hope you see it in my heart
That I know just who I am and what you are
I know you are a good thing
You don't leave a good thing for a good time
You don't scrap a whole song cause of one rhyme
You lose it all you lose it all and you soon find
That you don't leave a good thing for a good time
I was a man that I just couldn't be proud of

So I traded a quiet and a stand in for some loud fun
I broke a promise that I'd always be the kind of prince I know a princess needs but
I'm here to prove that I'm a brand new man from you
This is a brand new start
I hope you see it in my heart
That I know just who I am and what you are
I know you are a good thing
You don't leave a good thing for a good time
You don't scrap a whole song cause of one rhyme
You lose it all you lose it all and you soon find
That you don't leave a good thing for a good time
