Goody Goody Lyrics

So you met someone who set
You back on your heels
Goody goody
(he's a sucker)
So you met someone and
Now you know how it feels
Goody goody
(let me and don't say that)
So you gave him your heart too
Just as I gave mine to you
(Stop talking about this stuff)
And he broke it in little pieces
And now how do you do?
(It's not funny Tony)

So you lie awake just
Singing the blues all night
Goody goody
So you think that love's
A barrel of dynamite
(I told you I'm not goody, I'm a baddie)
Hooray and hallelujah
You had it coming to ya
(Think you're funny, huh?)
Goody goody for him
Goody goody for me
(Goody goody for you)
And I hope you're satisfied
You rascal you
(That's very cheeky, Tony)
So you met someone who set
You back on your heels
(so what?) Goody goody
So you met someone and now
You know how it feels
(I was confused, you know) goody goody
So you gave him your heart too
Just as I gave mine to you
And he broke it in little pieces
(I know) and now how do you do?
So you lie awake just singin'
The blues all night
(Yeah, all night, all night long)
Goody goody
So you think that love's
A barrel of dynamite
(Yes, so what, sometimes)
Hooray and hallelujah
You had it coming to ya
(stop those things)
Goody goody for him
Goody goody for me
(I'm not a goody, I'm a baddie)
Your love has been denied
You've been taken for a ride
(well, are you happy now?)
And I hope you're satisfied
Uou rascal you
(You'll be fine, just stop singing that song)

"The Lady Is a Tramp" is a show tune from the 1937 Rodgers and Hart musical Babes In Arms in which it was introduced by former child star Mitzi Green. This song is a spoof of New York high society and its strict etiquette (the first line of the verse is significant: "I get too hungry for dinner at eight..."). It has become a popular standard. Tony Bennett and Lady GaGa recorded a contemporary version for Bennett's 2011 album "Duets II."
