Governing Takes Brains Lyrics

[Oh my god!]You know to be able to run a government you need a bloody good brain
To be an MP you must be someone well above the common
Learn to do the job as you'll properly you need many many qualities
Ordinary mortals can't command I will tell you later what they all areStupid fools say it's not hard to do what I do
But let me tell you it's hard you couldn't do what I do
Don't even dream of it you would never succeed
People as clever as me are very few and far between...
You know to be in business to run a company you really
need to use your head
Show me a man of money and I will show you a genius
To get to grips with the ins and outs
you all think that it's a piece of cake
But you know it's taken me many years and I am very remarkableStupid fools say it's not hard to do what I do
I'm here to tell you it's hard you couldn't do what I do
Don't even dream of it you would never succeed
People as clever as me are very few and far betweenSo let me assure you it's no picnic to be in charge of this land
You scruffy people the lower orders just know your place
Don't ever you try at governing you might find out how difficult it isStupid fools say it's not hard to do what I do

But let me tell you it's hard you couldn't do what I do
Don't even dream of it you would never succeed
People as clever as me are very few and far between
We are not equal but we are different
It's a dangerous view to say we are born equal
It don't appeal to any one of the deputies
You know that equality is an impossible dream

There are 2 bands with this name. 1. McCarthy were a British indie pop band, formed in Barking, East London in 1985 by schoolmates Malcolm Eden, Tim Gane, John Williamson and Gary Baker. They mixed a sweetly melodic style, dominated by Gane's 12-string guitar playing, with Eden's overtly political lyrics, often satirical in tone, which reflected the band's far left leanings. After a string of singles, including 'Red Sleeping Beauty' and 'Frans Hals', and a track on the NME c86 album, their debut album 'I Am A Wallet' was released in 1987 to much critical acclaim.
