Tom P grew up in Decatur, GA. He began writing, producing, and recording his own music at the age of 12 and performing as early as 16. Tom P was able to gain a notable reputation throughout the inner-city high schools as “the kid who rapped and was actually good at it.” Releasing two underground solo albums and packing out several major Atlanta venues during this time led to strong relationships with other local artists and producers developing into a movement of like minded artists that has continued to evolve. Considerable word of mouth and a few sell out shows later… Tom P started organizing and throwing his own events at established venues; booking other local acts as openers, promotions, and headlining as a performer. While continuing to work with these Atlanta venues and the artists who are at the core of it’s scene, Tom P created a new force in Atlanta music by throwing underground events at non-venue warehouse locations in the Atlanta area handling all of the logistics of the event from acquiring sound equipment and setting up the space for a show, to putting together a crew including: stage hands, lighting and sound, security, bartenders, door people, and catering to support the hundreds of fans that would come out in support. These events, growing in popularity, have consistently packed non-venue locations, providing a unique and memorable experience to the Atlanta hip-hop scene. Currently working with the local music scene, opening and headlining shows with other hip hop artists, performing at fraternity parties, back yard bbq’s, cancer fund raisers, and even a wedding ceremony, Tom P has defined himself as a staple of the industry not only as a popular performer, but also as an artist with a refined skill and knowledge of his craft… a rare combination. Recognized by fans, fellow artists, and those in the entertainment industry within Atlanta as the “kid who raps and is really fucking good at it” the Tom P name is now at the center of a new era of good music and a movement in Atlanta that is on the verge of blowing up.
How Atlanta started to Jump Off!!!
The ATL Jump Off is a large event in Atlanta that takes place periodically. It was originally created by popular local hop hop artist Tom P. Tom P's performances had sold out several venues in the Atlanta area and they were only getting bigger. Due to a lack of funds, press, and a whole lot of politics, Tom P was having trouble gaining access to venues that could fit his growing fan base. He decided that in order to expand he would have to take matters into his own hands. The first Jump Off took place at Tim Barrett Studios; A large ware house with a capacity around 1,500. Tom P organized everything; beer, bar tenders, sound, lighting, stage hands, security, promotions, and of course, performed. The first Jump Off only featured Tom P and an opening rock group called Idiot Slowdown, but the show managed to pull in around 700 people. Tom P was quickly recognized by many other hip hop artists, promoters, managers and label heads in the Atlanta area for his success. The second Jump Off took place at a well known venue called Lenny's. Tom P recruited popular artists Mums fp, Sean Falyon, Siya, and returning artists Idiot Slowdown to be openers for his act. The show was a huge success, nearly selling out the large venue.
