Hard Life Lyrics

It ain't easyPeople talk
I don't care what they say
In the long run
Gonna do it my wayHad some breaks
Paid for my mistakes
Lord knows I've had my share
Of heartachesNow I've learned to see
What my daddy always tried to tell meIt's a hard life
Living on your own
It ain't easy
So far from homeIt's a hard life
And it's lonely, too
When you trying to find a friend or two
To stand by youSaid it wasn't easyThe simple dreams
I never understood
Local boy
Trying to make it goodTake my life
I tried to calculate it

The price I paid
I underestimatedLate at night in bed
I think of what my momma saidIt's a hard life
Living on your own
Things are never easy
When you're far from homeIt's a hard life
And it's lonely, too
When you're trying to find a friend or two
To stand by youYou go where you want
Don't let them tie you down
Do what you want
Can't let them push you 'round
It's never, never easy
Oh, oh, ohNow and then
The road, it gets tough
It's a struggle
Just to get enoughIt's a hard life
And it takes its toll
Before his time
A man grows oldIt's a hard life
And it's lonely, too
When you're looking for a friend or two
To stand by you, yeahIt ain't easy
Oh, oh, ohIt's a hard life
Living on your own
Said it wasn't easy
When you're far from homeIt's a hard life
And it's lonely, too
You're looking for a friend or two
They'd be standing next to youSaid it's never easy

Eddie Money (born Edward Joseph Mahoney, March 2, 1949 in New York City, United States) is an American rock singer-songwriter who found success in the 1970s and 1980s with a string of Top 40 hits and platinum albums. Rock impresario Bill Graham said of Money "Eddie Money has it all...Not only can he sing, write and play, but he is a natural performer." After becoming a police officer, like his father, during the late 1960s, Money began to be interested in music, and eventually ended his law enforcement career in favor of becoming a musician.
