Hatful of Rain (live at Leeds) Lyrics

Love hearts on an old stone building
Have no relevance now
Sherry bottles in a bus-stop litter bin
Remind me of you somehow
You look so young it's frightening
Life's been good to you
But strike me down with bolts of lightning
If I wasn't good to you tooThrow me away, throw me away again
'cause I don't mind, I'm still satisfied
With just a hateful of rainMerry widows in stock gloss magazines
Dumbstruck open their mouths
And out comes some old jackpot philosophy
Everything must pay somehow
And I've heard you say that he just works for me
Doing things that you can't do
But grease my palms with a hateful of currencies
I don't belong to youThrow me away, throw me away again
'cause I don't mind, I'm still satisfied

With just a hateful of rain

Del Amitri are a Pop-rock guitar band, formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1980. They came together at school as teenagers when Justin Currie (bass and vocals), James Scobbie (guitar and vocals) and Donald Bentley (guitar) formed a band in reaction against the rest of the 'rockers' in the school. The name was chosen deliberately because it didn't mean anything but sounded a bit like someone's name - early Del Amitri did not want to be classified and their existence was kept secret from the rest of the school.
