He Lei Keia No Ema Lyrics

He lei këia no Emma
Kö lei kaulana i ke kipi
Ua kau kö lei I ka waha
I ka lehelehe o ka loko’ino
Kueka’a pau ‘ia mai
Nä kui nä ‘ai o loko
Kölea kau ähua
Noinoi ‘oihana aupuni
I ka hana lokomaika’i ‘ia
E ka na’au lani ha’aha’a
Ua pono nö ‘oe ke lino
(Ua lohe nä kupa o Kahiki
‘elua ‘oi oke ao nei

Wikolia Kó Lokana
Ke kuini ‘Emma Ko Hawai’i
Kohukohu I ka noho Kalaunu
E mau kö kapu ‘ihi lani)
A welo kö hae Hawai’I
I lanakila ai nä kipi
Iä ‘oe kaleleonälani
‘O Kaleleonälani kona inoa
This is a lei chant for Emma
A lei chant for you, a rebel
Your name is mentioned everywhere
By the lips of heartless people
Everything rolls out
Sharp thing within like nails
Are spoken by mound-perching plovers
They who seek to hold government offices
They have been kindly treated
By a gracious hearted chief
You have something to boast of
(For it is heard in foreign lands
That there are but two great women
Victoria of London and Queen Emma of Hawai’i
These two are fit to occupy the thrones
May your kapu continue on)
And the Hawaiian flag ever wave
May you be victorious
Over your foes O Kaleleonälani
In Honor of Emma
