He Sent a Carpenter Lyrics

In a manger filled with hay
The Virgin Mother's baby lay
While shepherds stood trembling at the siteThis child was the King of kings
But God who knows and sees all things
Sent a simple man to show the world the lightHe sent a carpenter
A carpenter to build His kingdom here
A carpenter
He sent a carpenter to build on faith not fearThe proof lay in those nail scarred hands
So every heart could understand
He sent a carpenter to
Build His kingdom hereHis father's house here on earth
Was built on faith and by His works
Grew strong just like the rock it stood uponThen God spoke to His only Son
And told him that His job was done
When that last nail was finally driven homeHe sent a carpenter
A carpenter to build His kingdom here
A carpenter
He sent a carpenter to build on faith not fearThe proof lay in those nail scarred hands

So every heart could understand
He sent a carpenter
To build His kingdom hereThe proof lay in those nail scarred hands
So every heart could understand
He sent a carpenter
To build His kingdom hereHe sent a carpenter
To build His kingdom here

Sawyer Brown is a country music band formed in 1981 at a Pizza Hut restaurant in Apopka, Florida. Lead singer Mark Miller asked keyboardist Gregg "Hobie" Hubbard to play piano for a couple of songs he had written. The two left for Nashville, Tennessee, where they met up with Florida drummer Joe Smyth, Michigan bass player Jim Scholten and original lead guitarist Bobby Randall. They first called the band "Savanah", but renamed themselves "Sawyer Brown" after Sawyer Brown Road, the street where they rehearsed.
