He Was Too Good to Me Lyrics

She was too good to me
How can I get along now?
So close she stood to me
Everything seems all wrong now
She would have brought me the sun
Making me smile, that was her funIf I was mean to her
She'd never say go away now
I was a king to her
Who's gonna light my way now?
It's only natural I'm so blue
She was too good to be trueShe was too good to me
How can I get along now?
So close she stood to me
Everything seems all wrong now
She would have brought me the sun
Making me smile, that was her funIf I was mean to her
She'd never say go away now
I was a king to her

Who's gonna light my way now?
It's only natural I'm so blue
She was too good

Carmen Mercedes McRae (1920-1994) was a U.S. jazz singer, songwriter, and pianist. McRae was born in Harlem, New York, on the 8th April 1920, and studied piano as a child. As a teenager she came to the attention of Teddy Wilson and his wife, the composer Irene Kitchings Wilson. Through their influence, one of McRae’s early songs, "Dream of Life", was recorded by Wilson’s longtime collaborator Billie Holiday.
