Heart Gone Cold Lyrics

You caught my eye right from the start
I couldn't get you off of my mind
You were gettin' over a broken heart
A victim of cheatin' and lyin'I tried to show you that I was in
And thought that you would come a-round
I told you I'd be there through thick and thin
I thought that's what was going downYou were like a diamond in the rough
And I was chasing Fool's gold
I thought I found a treasure to last forever
And now I can't let goI've been trying for so long
I keep on trying, baby
There's no use in hanging on
But I hold on, hold on
Nothing left for me to hold
When a heart's gone coldYou got a wall I can't get through
But I keep on chipping away
Piece by piece I'll get to you
But I can't make you stayWe were frozen in separate worlds

You drifted away from me
I was blind for way too long
But now I finally seeI've been trying for so long
For oh so long
There's no use in hanging on
But I keep holding on
Nothing left for me to hold
Ew yeah, when a heart's gone coldI've been trying for so long
I keep on trying and trying
There's no use in hanging on
Ew, but I keep holding on, baby
Just don't know where we went wrong
I can't seem to find out where we went wrong
Nothing left for me to holdWhen a heart's gone cold
When a heart's gone cold
Baby, baby
When a heart's gone cold
Heart's gone cold, cold
When a heart's gone cold

In the late 1960s, Roger Earl and Lonesome Dave Peverett first toured America as members of the seminal British band Savoy Brown . Together with guitarist Kim Simmonds, Savoy Brown was on the cutting edge of the emerging British blues-rock scene, and they influenced countless musicians on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1971, wanting to give a more rock 'n roll flavour to the blues-boogie music they were playing with Savoy, Dave and Roger enlisted lead/slide guitarist Rod Price and bassist Tony Stevens, formed a new band, Foghat.
