Hey, Lady Godiva Lyrics

(Shel Silverstein)Hey Lady Godiva, ridin' throughout town
Naked on your big white horse
With your long hair hangin' down
Lady Godiva, you say you're frightened
and so shy
I hate to bust your bubble but you
Sure picked a funny place to hideHey Lady Godiva, lookin' for a place
Where no one wants your body
And nobody knows your face
Lady Godiva, you say you wanna be loved
For what's inside
I don't know much about horses but you
Sure picked a funny place to rideEvery man's just a clutchin' hand
Reachin' out to grab you
Every man's a quiverin' lance
Tryin' hard to stab you - don' let 'em nab youHey Lady Godiva, lookin' kind of scared
You showed 'em all your talents
And nobody seems to care

Lady Godiva, could it be no-one wants to ride
Come to think it over
You may have picked the perfect place to hide(c)1972 Evil Eye Music Inc.

Dr. Hook (& The Medicine Show) were formed in Union City, New Jersey, USA in 1968. The original lineup consisted of Ray Sawyer, Dennis Locorierre, Bill Francis, John David and George Cummings - although there were countless lineup changes over the years.

Two years after Sawyer left in 1983 the band split up. Since then Sawyer has begun touring as "Dr Hook featuring Ray Sawyer" and Locorierre has also promoted himself as "The voice of Dr Hook".

Trivia: In a live webcast performance from Atlanta Bon Jovi performed "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr Hook - declaring the song "One we should have written".
