High Class Demoiselle - Danny Rood

Performer/songwriter Danny Rood lauched his first CD after 30 years of performing music in Québec, the rest of Canada and the U.S.A."You shine like the sun" marked the return to his solo career. This CD consists of twelve songs, influenced by R & B, with a touch of British essence; a blend of compositions taken direcly from his guitar and piano with lyrics inspired by everyday life. Danny and his guitar have traveled a long way before going solo. After being a part of several bands such as FLASH BACK, TUNISIA, IMAGINE and TOGETHER, he backed performers such as NANETTE WORKMAN, FRANCINE RAYMOND and NORM BRUNET. In 2001, he contributed to the very successful show BRITISH INVASION at the Casino de Montréal. That show ended with it's ultimate performance at the Loto-Québec event CELEBRATION 2002. While playing other artists' music, Danny continued to write his own original material. In 1992, he recorded "Naitre en amour". This song was featured on the CD Compilation MIDEM Cannes 1993, wich was distributed in 17 european countries. He demonstrated his talents in France again when he was selected by the O.F.Q.J. to represent Québec in St-Malo. Danny went on to be a semi-finalist twice, in 1995 and 1996, in the "Ma Premiere Place des Arts" talent showcase. In 2002, Danny returned to the stage with a new solo project: a R & B repertoire, 100% original songs, which he decided to record at the publics request. "You shine like the sun." came out in 2004 as the studio version of that material. In 2005, the song "Home", which he wrote for his mother, was chosen by the Canadian Cancer Association in a campaing to raise funds for research. His latest performance was on the Loto-Québec stage at the Montréal International Jazz Festival, 2006 edition.
